Les Toiles du Soleil restores all its luster to the great tradition of Catalan weaving.

The excellence of French know-how

Since the end of the 19th century, the last textile factory in the village of Saint Laurent de Cerdans has withstood the test of time and reinvented itself. The weaving of Catalan canvases, pride of Haut Vallespir, continually offers ever more original and modern creations.

The key to the success is the ingrained knowledge of the highly skilled women and men, who transfer their exceptional know-how and techniques to the future generations of the atelier. There is something that belongs to the realm of heritage, a quest for excellence and preservation of patrimony, a know-how built over time, thus perpetuating timeless craftsmanship.

A step welcomed by the
prestigious EPV Label*

whose factory has just received the distinction again.

Innovation at the forefront of artisanal craftsmanship

It is likely that we are the only ones in France, or even in Europe, to use ancient Diederichs shuttle looms to create our weavings. These rare looms produce a continuous border that guarantees the strength and detailed finish of our striped canvases, which only Les Toiles du Soleil is still able to offer.

These tools also allow us to obtain exceptionally high-quality canvas that cannot be produced by new models of weaving machines. Thanks to these ancient looms, we are able to produce unique fabrics, with original designs, using high quality yarns, made up of plant fibers and natural materials.

The use of traditional techniques allows us to maintain the authenticity and history of our craft while integrating it into a process of continuous innovation. As a result, our canvases come to life with a palette of colors that have unparalleled richness.

Combining the threads of the basic 35 colors we create infinite hues, which allows us to break down the boundaries of creativity.

A textile-mill committed to its region

For more than 150 years, Les Toiles du Soleil has been developing its activity in the heart of the Catalan country, thus contributing to the economic and social development of the region. We are proud to play a major role in the preservation of the know-how and skills related to our unique crafts and the creation of jobs in the Haut-Vallespir area.

As a responsible company, we have also established partnerships to promote local craftsmanship and culture.

At Les Toiles du Soleil, we are convinced that our role is not limited to the production of exceptional quality canvasses. We are thoroughly committed to sustainable development, favoring natural raw materials and ensuring that our high quality products are designed to stand the test of time.
